Newminimalists create purpose-driven work for themselves and others.
Human talent is about to become a super rare resource. A team of human talent will be even more rare. In the past, salt was a precious commodity; however, those who worked in the salt mines were not valued [see photo]. Today the equivalents of "salt workers" are being replaced by robots. So, perhaps, it is past time for you to create a new workplace yourself.
As the automation robotics hollow out the old workplaces you need a new plan. These automated systems will compete against each other to drive-down the returns to labour. In your old workplace algorithms will replace human decision makers. Data quantities will explode: information quality will implode. Of course you will still find plenty of work in the 2020 global workplace if you are obsessed with consistency, uniformity, and group think.
However. Those of you who know what it is that you do best can demand a remuneration premium if and when you create a new workplace for yourself. And yet. There are even higher remuneration premiums for those who create talent teams in a physical hub or in virtual locations around the world. These physical hubs will become "pop-up" centres within vacated spaces in local Malls, restaurants, petrol stations, bus terminals, Microsoft stores, etc which have all been shutdown due to 2020 changes in the global economy. Of course the virtual locations can be set-up inside a home, a hotel, an airport, etc: indeed wherever suitable Wi-fi provisions are available. Some will have 5G connections that will speed up data flows and increase band widths available for video transmissions, etc. Perhaps as early as the end of 2020 some of you will begin to reap the benefits of a Starlink Internet as it spreads its coverage around the globe.
Create a new workplace for yourself and you will not only survive the current 2020 economic depression but you will thrive in the emerging post-2020 economy.
