You and I possess a built-in confirmation bias. Perhaps the difference between you and me is I own mine and you rent yours. In the future those facts may well be reversed. Either way a 'confirmation bias' is as real as the trees, land, and water in the photo posted here. The trees reflect our needs for protection from seasonal high winds. From prying eyes. From the bland [beautiful] expanse of the water that surrounds us. The land is our platform for life. It is solid yet restricted. It is at its best when it is well clipped and maintained. It is the anchor for our life. It is what provides us with our sense of 'bounded rationality'. The water is our moat. It is the environment's spiritual gift to our life. It forms a strong bulwark to all outside influences. And. It is both a playground [swim, boating, fish] and a DMZ for our life. These are the constituent elements in a 'confirmation bias': Trees = needs. Land = habits. Water = beliefs. Each of us lives on an island formed by our version of the 'confirmation bias'. Most of us stay on the same island all our life. Some of us go and create a new island. Some of us visit other islands. Some of us ..... Richard
