Are you being manipulated at work?

Here are two basic reasons why you are being manipulated: 1] the jobs around you are loaded-up with 'make work' 2] HR sets the standards for 'make work' in your culture.

The truth is that the modern workplace culture - "the way things are done around here"- is built on trust or fear. Thus no man or woman in the workplace is an island [see photo].

Continuity is the mainstay of a 'make work' job - boring routines are maintained in the workplace by systems and culture. Of course, the great protectors of continuity in any workplace is the local or central HR unit.

Discontinuity is the saviour for those who seek jobs that have meaning and ultimately make a difference in our world. And the greatest purveyors of discontinuity [creativity, energy, and disruptions] are the geeks, freaks, and dissidents who roam around the place.

Discontinuity + agility = speed

I highly respect Gary Vee for many reasons: but, I strongly disagree with his sage advice in the following video clip. Based on this clip [and many others he has produced lately] I advise young people not go to work for VanerMedia unless, or until, they truly know themselves and what they really need from a job.
