Newminimalists appear like mushrooms after a solid spring rain.
We all pretend that we have special insights into what the future holds for us. Those who predict that the spider will still be with us in 2021 [see photo] have a high probability of being right. But when it comes to predicting what the local economy will look like it is much more difficult to predict anything with any degree of certainty.
So. I decided to have some fun with my insights into the near future. In fact I decided to apply the first principles I used to invent Newminimalism to help me describe what I term "the spider's web economy". I decided to use the spider as my focal point because, as stated above, I believe that she and her technologies will still be with us next year.
First let us think of the spider as the means of producing cash flow. How does she do that? She spins a web or a series of webs. Thus in a spider's economy it seems that cash flow is dependant upon the habits of a particular spider.
Second let us think about the capture of an insect in a spider's web as the demand in her economy. Loosely put it is the thoughts [instincts or fast thinking] of those captured in the spider's cash flow web that create the demand in this simple economy.
Third lets us think a little about the supply chain for the spider's economy. Here it is the belief set built into the DNA of the insects which continues to drive the supply curve. The insects have a built in belief system that forces them to procreate, cocoon, and replicate themselves. This belief system does tend to mutate and eventually to evolve but it does that slowly because the environs around it are essentially in a state of dynamic homeostasis.
So there is the model. I trust that all you Newminimalists will have some fun playing around with it and then relating the lessons learnt from it to your local environment.
