Work is about to be redesigned [see photo]. If the ideologues prevail then work will be redefined to better fit groups of people not the output of that workforce [think green new deal, diversity and inclusion, collaboration not cooperation, rules not trust, etc]. If people are the basic ingredient for work as it was in the Highland Ford Factory of 1908 then we are about to regiment the thinking, habits, and beliefs of workers that focuses on equity [equal outcomes] not on innovation [new uses for C21st technology].
Work as designed by the woke, or green new deal, ideologues will be organised into high- paid collectives with little scope for flexibility, invention, innovation, and new systems of delivery for goods and services. The aim of this design is to throttle back economic growth. These ideologues oppose economic growth [especially expansive systems based on fossil fuels]. The utopian goal of this approach to work is to eliminate it and have more and more people live off a government distributed income regime. Organising communities not workspaces will be a key proposition for a world these ideologues believe should shrink [lower population, etc] not expand.
Work design for those who stay at home requires gifted intellects but sadly these types of minds are not what you find inside ideological collectives. Innovative work design requires minds that are flexible, deviant [looking for simple ways through a complex maze], no-conformists, rule breakers, etc.
Work is at the cutting edge of the revolution which is about to reshape Western Civilisation and at the moment the woke design is prevalent. One antidote to those ideological morons is those of us who are minimalists. Inside the minimalists' world there is a bright future but it is not for everyone; indeed it seems it has not relevance for the mind-numbing approach to work that the woke have brought to our world of work in 2021.
